It looks like a lot of the previous racial abilities are in the process of having their damage component removed. As you can see below, this list taken from the petopia forums, that a lot of previous abilities no longer do any damage.
  • Fox - Tailspin: Reduces attack speed of all enemies within 10 yards by 20% for 8 sec. 40 sec cooldown.
Play: A fun ability with no combat purpose
    Does not replace prowl.
  • Corehound - Lava Breath: No longer does fire damage. Cooldown reduced to 8 sec. Focus cost removed.
  • Rhino - Stampede: No longer does damage. Bleed damage effect increased to 30%. Duration changed to 30 sec. Cooldown changed to 15 sec.
  • Wasp - Sting: Changed completely. Now simply stuns a target for 2 sec. 45 sec cooldown. :(

These are some pretty exciting changes made to pets. Blizzard is trying to equalize pets damage so that not one pet is going to be singled out for the best raiding pet. Now hunters have the option to choose what they want to bring to the table.

Ancient Hysteria

There are new pet spells that have been seen in the database. The biggest one being the Ancient Hysteria spell for Corehounds. This makes BM look very good, and will be an excellent off spec for hunters going into 10 man raids that don't have a shaman for bloodlust/heroism.

Here is a list of some of the changes that have been found to I believe just exotic pets.

Corehound: Ancient Hysteria
Devilsaur: Terrifying Roar
Silithid: Qiraji Fortitude
Spirit Beast: Spirit Mend

There are probably more to come, but this looks very good for BM hunters.

Latest Beta Build for Hunters

This is the latest beta build with some new and interesting changes to hunters.
Beast Mastery
  • Aspect of the Fox now procs from melee attacks you receive instead of whenever you take damage.
  • Kill Command now requires your pet to be in combat.
  • Tame Beast no longer reduces your armor by 100%.
  • Envenomation renamed to Killing Streak and revamped - When you score two Kill Command critical hits in a row, your third will deal 15/30% more damage and have its cost reduced by 5/10 focus.
  • Cobra Strikes now has a 5/10/15% chance to proc from any Arcane Shot instead of a 20/40/60% chance to proc from a critical Arcane Shot or Kill Command.
Marksmanship
  • Multi-Shot now deals 55% of weapon damage to all enemies within 8 yards of the target.
  • Chimera Shot revamped - An instant shot that causes ranged weapon damage plus [ 24% of RAP + 401 ], refreshing the duration of your Serpent Sting and healing you for 5% of your total health.
  • Careful Aim now affects target above 80% health, up from 60%.
Survival
  • Traps had their description modified, apparently the restriction of "Only one trap can be active at a time." no longer exists.
  • Cobra Shot is now a Survival skill (Old - Beast Mastery) and now deals weapon damage plus [ 8.6% of RAP + 276.81 ] in the form of Nature damage.
  • Frost Trap is now Ice Trap
  • Black Arrow now only shares a cooldown with Explosive Trap and Immolation Trap.
  • Improved Tracking revamped - now Increases ranged haste by 1/2/3%.
I'm a little confused right now with the new change to Aspect of the Fox. It appears that when struck by melee you would lose your current aspect and switch to fox. Since there is no apparent time limit on how long it would last from procing, I would assume that to be correct and you would have to switch back to Dragonhawk if you wanted.

I like the change to Chimera Shot, but it sounds like the damage has been nerfed quite a bit. I believe the main shot for MM is going to be aimed now. Chimera Shot will be good for the 5% health and the refreshing serpent sting, but the 50 focus cost is still a little high and it might be more worth it so just use the 25 focus serpent sting.

Careful Aim I believe is going to be a pretty worthless talent even more so now. Unless its going to be really hard to get bosses from 100% to 80% then it's really not going to be worth the points.

I don't believe Cobra Shot moving to Survival is going to have any real impact on anything. I'm pretty sure BM should still be able to learn the shot and use it but their main focus will be spent on Arcane Shot.

I like that Frost Trap has been renamed to Ice Trap. I always felt the name was too similar to freezing trap and can be confusing to new players since they are similar in names.

Improved Tracking change I believe to be a nerf, but it all depends on the numbers in the end. Haste is going to play a lot bigger role in Cataclysm with the fact that it will increase focus regen as well as increase ranged attack speed and reduce casting time.

In the end right now I'm really enjoying the direction hunters are going for the new expansion. I can't wait to see the end result and try it all out. Those in beta, enjoy the changes!

Tier 11 Set Bonuses Released

  • Item - Hunter T11 2P Bonus - Increases the critical strike chance of your Serpent Sting ability by 5%. / Instant
  • Item - Hunter T11 4P Bonus - Your Focus Fire ability grants 1% additional haste per application of Frenzy, your Chimera Shot ability has a 10% chance to immediately refund half its focus cost, and your Black Arrow also deals instant damage to your target. / Instant
(MMO Champion)
These are the set bonuses for tier 11 that will be released with Cataclysm. I'm assuming that the dots on Serpent Sting can now crit without needing the tier 9 2 piece otherwise that is a worthless 2pc bonus. The 4 piece bonus is alright. I believe it's going to be best for BM depending on how much damage Black Arrow will actually do instantly. I don't know if the 10% chance and only half focus cost is going to be worth it for Chimera Shot. It already costs 50 focus and getting 25 back makes it equivalent to other shots, but only at a 10% chance. We'll see what happens though.

Tier 11 Concept Art

Check out the newly release tier 11 concept art for hunters.

Top Left: "Shoulder pads constructed from glass fishing net floats - filled with water and lashed together."

Bottom Left: "Alternative (...) Shoulder Pad"

Bottom Right: "Tier 11 - Hunter, Stormchaser's Battlegear"

(I'm sorry, I can't quite read everything, if someone knows what it all says please let me know.)

Looks like a sort of water theme here for hunters. We appear to have some sort of naga or murloc head piece. With some sort of water filled balls or something on our shoulders with scales throughout the pieces. It could be interesting once it's completed. I for one, don't mind the head piece so much, but I'm read a lot comment that people don't really like it.

I do enjoy the stormchaser name for the gear. Hopefully the tier bonuses will be good also.

Pet of the Week 9/8

Welcome to this weeks "Pet of the Week" here on the Land of Orcs. I hope you all have enjoyed some of the previous pets shown so far. This weeks pet is the White Worg.

This wolf is my personal favorite pet. I have one that is my companion that comes with me to every raid. Wolves are of course the best raiding pet at the moment because of their Furious Howl spell.

These wolves are have a nice clean white coat and slender body and their claws and teeth are menacing and tell people to stay away!

The white worg is most popularly known for being seen in the Alterac Valley battleground. But, they can also be found in Dun Morogh, Duskwood, and Felwood as rare spawns.

I hope you enjoy this weeks pet of the week and go out and catch your very own white worg.

Camouflage

There has been a lot of buzz going around about the new 85 skill Camouflage. This skill is actually not to be confused with stealth. You can still be targeted while in camo, but they simply can't attack you. You aren't affected by AoE from any source, nor can dispel or mass dispel break you. Though I have read in numerous places that you are supposed to be affected by AoE and melee abilities, so whether this is currently a bug on beta servers we will have to wait and find out.

Now, how useful will this ability actually be. People believe camo is going to be over powered because of it's ability to prevent any spells from being cast on you, but! It has a 1 minute timer, it can't be cast in combat, and unless your standing completely still, enemies can target you. Camouflage does have its benefits for hunter in PvP. You can still cast trap launcher, traps, aspects, and defense spells like deterrence. You can also tip toe around mobs while leveling or running through content.

Well, I believe this video says all that needs to be said about camouflage. I would like to thank Frostheim for this amazing video.

Design

Well, it appears the template I was using has a problem with it right now. I have substituted a new one for the time being until I can get a new one. Thanks for your patience and I hope this doesn't inconvience anyone too much.

I know there are some broken links I will try to fix those as soon as I can.
